A quick shot of cold air will lead the first widespread ice and snow event of the season across the northeastern U.S. into Tuesday night.

The storm that unleashed severe weather, ice and blizzard conditions across the south-central United States this past weekend will impact the Northeast into Tuesday night.

Fresh cold air will set the stage for more widespread snow and ice to fall than with recent storms in the Northeast from New York state and New England northward to Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

“The worst travel conditions in the Northeast will continue through Tuesday morning across northern and eastern New York and New England,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said. “Roads that are not treated will become treacherous and people may not be aware of the hazardous situation.”

The United States Of America At Night

By Michael Snyder – End Of The American Dream

Despite everything that just happened in France, on Sunday the Obama administration made it clear that it still plans to resettle at least 10,000 Syrian refugees in communities all over the United States within the next year.  Thanks to Obama, the U.S. has already been absorbing thousands of refugees from the Middle East each year, and as you will see below, just last week administration officials expressed a desire to “increase and accelerate” that process.  So far, the list of states that have received the most refugees includes Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.  But by the time it is all said and done, it is likely that Syrian refugees will end up in virtually every major city in the United States.  The U.S. State Department has established “refugee processing centers” in 48 different states, and you can view the entire list right here.  Considering what just took place in Paris, is this really a good idea?

In recent months, the massive influx of refugees into Europe has created a complete and utter nightmare.  Large numbers of refugees have gotten “lost”, violent crime is out of control in many of the areas where these refugees have been resettled, and nations that were once extremely peaceful such as Norway and Sweden are now dealing with an epidemic of rape.  For much, much more on the horror that Europe is now facing, please check out this excellent video.

And of course you have probably heard by now that at least one of the terrorists that carried out the attacks in Paris came into Europe “as a Syrian migrant”

One of the bombers who carried out the Paris terrorist attacks entered Europe as a Syrian migrant, according to foreign officials.

French authorities matched the remains of one of the suicide bombers from the Friday attacks to a Syrian passport that was used to apply for asylum in Europe, says Greek minister for citizen protection Nikos Toskas.

But even though ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks in France, Barack Obama doesn’t seem very alarmed.  And it was just last week that Obama stated that ISIS had been “contained”.  The following comes from the Hill

What in the world are the elite up to?  In recent days, we have learned that the New York Fed is moving a lot of operations to Chicago because of concerns about what a “natural disaster” could do, the federal government is buying 62 million rounds of ammunition commonly used in AR-15 semi-automatic rifles for “training” purposes, and NORAD is moving back into Cheyenne Mountain because it is “EMP-hardened”.  In addition, government authorities have scheduled a whole host of unusual “training exercises” all over the nation.  So are the elite doing all of this in order to prepare for something really BIG, or should we just chalk up all of this strange activity to rampant government paranoia?

First, let’s talk about what the New York Fed has been doing.  What kind of natural disaster would be bad enough to completely shut down the operations of the New York Federal Reserve Bank?  It would have to be something very unusual, and apparently the New York Fed is very concerned that such an event could happen.  According to Reuters, the New York Fed has been transferring personnel to Chicago and building up its satellite office there just in case a “natural disaster” makes it impossible for normal operations to continue in New York…

The New York branch of the U.S. Federal Reserve, wary that a natural disaster or other eventuality could shut down its market operations as it approaches an interest rate hike, has added staff and bulked up its satellite office in Chicago.

Some market technicians have transferred from New York and others were hired at the office housed in the Chicago Fed, according to several people familiar with the build-out that began about two years ago, after Hurricane Sandy struck Manhattan.

Officials believe the Chicago staffers can now handle all of the market operations that are done daily out of the New York Fed, which is the U.S. central bank’s main conduit to Wall Street.

This seems very odd.

In all of U.S. history, there has never been a natural disaster in New York City that would have been bad enough to totally shut down the operations of the New York Fed for an extended period of time.

So why are they so concerned?

Well, I can think of one event that could cause such a disruption…

An east coast tsunami.

This is something that I wrote about in this article.  But other than that, it is hard to imagine a natural disaster which could shut down the New York Fed for an extended period of time.

Another very odd thing that we learned about this week is an absolutely massive purchase by the government of ammunition that is commonly used in AR-15 semi-automatic rifles.  The following comes from an article by Paul Joseph Watson

The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase over 62 million rounds of ammo typically used in AR-15 semi-automatic rifles, just weeks after the ATF was forced to back down on a ban on M855 bullets.

A posting on FedBizOpps.gov this week reveals that the DHS is looking to contract with a company to provide 12.6 million rounds of .223 Remington ammunition per year for a period of five years – totaling 62.5 million bullets.

The solicitation explains that the purchase is intended, “to achieve price savings over the current .223 Rem duty ammunition.” The bullets will be used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents nationwide for “training” purposes.

Why in the world would U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents nationwide need such a massive amount of ammunition for “training” purposes?

That seems very odd.

Something else that seems very strange is the fact that NORAD is moving back into Cheyenne mountain after all these years…

It shut down nearly ten years ago as the threat from Russia seemed to subside, but this week the Pentagon announced that Cheyenne Mountain will once again be home to the most advanced tracking and communications equipment in the United States military.

The shift to the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado is designed to safeguard the command’s sensitive sensors and servers from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, military officers said.

The Pentagon last week announced a $700 million contract with Raytheon Corporation to oversee the work for North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command.

Admiral William Gortney, head of NORAD and Northern Command, said that ‘because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain’s built, it’s EMP-hardened.’

So the U.S. military is concerned about an EMP attack all of a sudden?

Up to 5 feet of snow and plunging temperatures has left dozens of vehicles stranded on highways in blizzard conditions and the cold and snow has taken lives.

According to the Associated Press, four people died Tuesday due to the heavy snow. Three of the incidents were caused by cardiac arrest from shoveling snow, while the other one was due to an automobile accident. A fifth death was reported by county officials early Wednesday morning.

A large lake-effect snow band formed on Monday night over Lake Erie as cold arctic air began sweeping over the relatively warmer Great Lakes. The snow band took aim at southwestern New York and has yet to give up its position.

Communities along the I-90 corridor in southwestern New York, from Silver Creek to the Southtowns of Buffalo have been left in a disabled state, after feet of snow fell on Tuesday.

A band of storm clouds moves across Lake Erie and into Buffalo, New York, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014. Parts of New York measured the season’s first big snowfall in feet, rather than inches, on Tuesday as 3 feet of lake-effect snow blanketed the Buffalo area and forced the closure of a 132-mile stretch of the state Thruway. (AP Photo/Gary Wiepert)

The New York Thruway was impossible to traverse as snowplows were unable to keep up with the 3- to 5-inch per hour snowfall rates. To make matters worse, gusty winds accompanied the heavy snow, causing blowing, drifting, and white-out conditions at times.

Some motorists caught out in these bands were left stranded on major highways on Tuesday. Plow trucks were even stuck in some communities. The governor of New York declared several counties a state of emergency, allowing National Guard troops to be put on alert and utilized.

Five feet of snow has fallen on some of the towns south of Buffalo. Locally higher snowfall totals may come about as more information becomes available.

Depending on the investigation of snowfall measurement activities, and if the intense snow continues through Wednesday morning, there is a chance the 24-hour United States snowfall record could fall. That official record belongs to Silver Lake, Colorado, with 76 inches, spanning April 14-15, 1921. A report of snowfall of 77 inches in 24 hours at Montague, New York, was thrown out by officials from January 1997.

Due to the nature of these snow bands, some areas can get pummeled, while others escape the intense snow. For instance, the Buffalo airport has only received 3.9 inches of snow while a few miles to the south, several feet fell.

Another round of lake-effect snow will develop over the region on Thursday and will continue into Friday.

In a case of very bad timing, Hurricane Arthur will bring dangerous surf and a period of wet weather to many Atlantic coast beaches during the Fourth of July. In much of the Northeast, the surf will remain rough on Saturday.

Millions of people from Daytona Beach, Florida, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Wildwood, New Jersey; the Hamptons, New York; and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, will be impacted on their vacation during part of this week.

Even though the track of Arthur will take the center east of most beaches Thursday, Friday and Saturday, winds offshore will create large swells which will propagate onshore in the form of powerful waves as well as frequent, strong rip currents.

People are urged to obey restrictions on the beach and in the surf this weekend. Failure to do so may put not only themselves at risk but also their would-be rescuers.

“A storm is tremendous in what it can do to the shore and how dangerous it can become to swimmers,” American Lifeguard Association National Spokesperson Wyatt Werneth said. “Rip currents are strongest when the tide is coming in and the wind is onshore.”

The surf will continue to build through Friday along much of the East coast as Arthur strengthens and spins northward.

Surf conditions and seas will remain rough Saturday from the Delmarva Peninsula to New Jersey, Long Island and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

With the approach and passage of Arthur, pleasure boaters should check for the latest advisories and warnings. People should consider keeping their craft in port or remaining within the protection of the Intracoastal Waterway. The latest information on Arthur, including watches, warnings and advisories can be found on the AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center.

Gusty squalls will reach the coastal areas from the upper South Carolina coast and will spread northward over eastern North Carolina into Thursday night. Typical summertime drenching storms are possible through Friday over Florida.

The worst weather and the greatest risk of heavy rain and gusty winds in eastern North Carolina, southeastern Virginia, the Delmarva Peninsula and New Jersey will be late Thursday into Friday morning.

In the coastal areas of North Carolina and southeastern Virginia, there is the risk of flooded roadways, damaging gusts and blinding downpours in squalls. The power could go out in some communities.

The combination of storm surge and tides will produce a coastal inundation of 1-3 feet with localized inundation of 4 feet from North Carolina to southeastern Virginia. Arthur may have enough impact on parts of this area for officials to prompt mandatory evacuations. Hyde County, North Carolina, officials have issued a mandatory evacuation for Hatteras Island.

Farther north from Long Island to the southern New England beaches, drenching downpours and gusty winds are forecast Thursday night into Friday night. There is a risk of flash flooding in this area with minor coastal flooding possible on portions of Long Island and Cape Cod.

The worst weather will end prior to the surf subsiding, so many will still be able to enjoy their stay at the beach safely, as long as they observe surf restrictions set forth by authorities.

Sunshine will return to South Carolina on Friday morning, and clearing will expand northeastward to eastern North Carolina, southeastern Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula Friday afternoon and evening.

During Saturday and Sunday, the sun will be shining on most areas from the Carolinas to southeastern New England with a dramatic drop in humidity.

After tropical moisture and a front bring the risk of flooding downpours and gusty thunderstorms into part of the Fourth of July, clearing is forecast in time for fireworks from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, and New York City. However, the prospect of rain has pushed the Boston show forward to Thursday night. However, thunderstorms are possible Thursday night in eastern New England.

There is a risk of typical spotty thunderstorms lingering into the evening around Florida for fireworks locations such as Walt Disney World.

AR-15 legal

By Tara Dodrill

The popular AR-15 is being redesigned by some New York gunowners to allow them to still possess the gun, despite SAFE Act laws.

Gunowners in other states where the AR-15 is banned are doing the same thing, too.

Semi-automatic weapons have been a prime target of gun control advocates for a long time, but efforts to ban the guns ramped up after the horrific Sandy Hook school shooting.

Since the semi-automatic rifle, which many gun control advocates often refer to as an “assault weapon,” does not possess more firing power than a hunting rifle, specific cosmetic features can be removed without reducing the functions of the firearm. Features such as an adjustable stock, flash suppressors, and the pistol grip can be removed, transforming the so-called assault rifle into an albeit odd-looking yet legal weapon under the New York SAFE Act.

“Thanks to modifications by a Texas-based machine shop, the stripped-down rifle has an adapter that connects the spot where the grip would go to the stock, or portion of the rifle that the shooter braces against the shoulder,” the Times-Union reported.

A lawyer for a New York gun shop reportedly got an unofficial approval from a state police lawyer confirming that AR-15 rifles would remain legal under the SAFE Act if the characteristics banned by the gun control law were no longer present.

How To Defend Yourself And Your Family Against The New Breed Of Lowlife Criminal Scum

The semi-automatic rifle redesign has angered gun control advocates because the AR-15 still looks like a “scary assault weapon” even with the changes. According to The Blaze, Second Amendment supporters have argued that making cosmetic changes to guns reinforces the concept that banning a firearm based on looks is an ineffective way to combat gun control initiatives.

The new AR-15 redesign gives the semi-automatic rifle what some are calling an “odd paintball gun look.”

As previously reported by Off The Grid News, New York Assemblyman Bill Nojay believes the SAFE Act is merely a precursor to even more stringent gun control laws and mandatory firearms insurance.

“The Safe Act is not the end, it’s the beginning,” Nojay said. “You don’t have to take my word for it. You look at the bills that are before the state legislature that the Democrats from New York City want to see passed. … They [Democrats] believe that anyone who owns a firearm should be required to have $3 or $5 million of liability insurance.”

There are no federal bans or restrictions of AR-15 ownership in the United States. Six states currently have stiff regulations pertaining to AR-15 rifles. States where ownership of the “assault weapons” is heavily restricted include Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, California, Maryland and Connecticut.
