The kitchen is an area of great concern when operating in this type of environment. This is something that should be considered while piecing together your preparedness strategy.
Here is a list of items that we like to consistently add to our supplies. Every time we go out shopping we
like to pick up extra of these items and add them to our preps. Often overlooked, these items can make life a lot easier when trying to navigate your way through a crisis. As usual, this list is hardly all-inclusive but it may help others in their preparedness planning.
Paper plates and bowls
Styrofoam cups (for hot food and drinks)
Plastic knives, spoons, forks
Kitchen trash bags
Zip-lock storage bags (all sizes)
Aluminum cooking pans (all sizes)
Buckets (for dishwashing)
We like to acquire these items in paper form as much as possible in case it becomes necessary to burn trash if a complete lack of services exist. Again, this list is basic and I am sure there are many more things that could be added. We would love to hear your tips and ideas.
